Low tides change Mallaig–Lochboisdale ferry times from Friday

Mallaig–Lochboisdale ferry route, including South Uist and A830 Road to the Isles travellers

What has changed

CalMac confirms low-tide timetable amendments on the Mallaig–Lochboisdale route from 28–31 August 2026. On Friday 28 August, Lochboisdale departs at 08:40 for Mallaig, and Mallaig departs at 12:50 for Lochboisdale. Timings vary by date.

What you should do

Use CalMac’s dated tidal timetable rather than the normal summer timetable, and check live service status before travelling to Mallaig.

Overnight parking prohibited at Camusdarach car park

What has changed

A Highland Council order in force from 10 July 2026 prohibits parking by any vehicle at Camusdarach car park between 22:00 and 06:00.

North Face car park to close temporarily during forest-road works

Leanachan Forest and North Face car park near Nevis Range, Fort William

What has changed

Forestry and Land Scotland advises that forest-road grading works during the week beginning 27 July 2026 will require a temporary closure of the North Face car park for part of the programme. Vehicle access on the forest road between the North Face and Nevis Range barriers may also be disrupted. Works are expected to take around one week.

What you should do

Check the latest Forestry and Land Scotland notice before travelling and be prepared to use alternative parking if the North Face car park is closed.

Overnight A82 closures through Glencoe start Tuesday

A82 at Allt na Reigh, north of Altnafeadh, between the crash-barrier section and the Clachaig road

What has changed

Resurfacing starts at 19:00 Tuesday 25 August. The A82 at Allt na Reigh will be fully closed during working periods with no diversion. Escorted 10mph passage is scheduled at 20:00, 21:00, 22:00, 23:00, 00:00, 02:00 and 04:00 on affected nights.

What you should do

Avoid late-evening travel through Glencoe on affected nights where possible, or plan specifically around an escorted passage time.
