Plain-English explanation of what we collect, why, who can see it, how long we keep it, and how to ask us to change or delete it.
Last updated: 15 July 2026
This page is maintained by CamperLocations to answer common privacy questions about how the service handles your information. CamperLocations helps campervan travellers find responsible overnight stays, useful facilities and local places worth supporting across the Scottish Highlands.
What information we collect
We only collect what you choose to send us. Depending on the form you use, that can include your name, email address, optional phone or contact preference, travel details, vehicle type, preferred area, and any notes you add. If you report an issue with a listing, we collect the issue details and an optional email.
We do not store your device location. The “Near Me” feature works only on your device and is never sent to our servers.
Why we collect it
Traveller details help us respond to your request and shape a future network of responsible stays. Host interest details help us understand who might welcome self-contained campervans in the future. We only send marketing updates to people who have actively opted in.
Who can access it
Your information is accessible only to approved CamperLocations administrators and the secure systems that run the service. Private host details and exact locations are never shown publicly. We do not sell your information.
How long we keep it
We keep submissions only as long as needed to operate the pilot and respond to you, after which they are removed or anonymised. You can ask us to delete your information sooner at any time.
Your choices and how to request deletion or correction
You can ask us to access, correct or delete the information we hold about you, and you can withdraw marketing consent at any time. Email us with your request and we will action it.
AI-assisted travel information
CamperLocations may use trusted AI tools to help identify and prepare structured Travel Update drafts from public and official sources such as transport operators, local authorities and official emergency notices.
When an AI tool prepares a draft, the information sent into our private moderation workflow may include the update title, affected area, a factual summary, the practical action a traveller should take, the official source name and URL, relevant dates (such as when the update starts, expires or was first reported), internal review notes, and source identifiers or fingerprints used to detect duplicate submissions.
AI-submitted updates are placed into a private awaiting-review queue. They are not published automatically. A CamperLocations administrator reviews the content and the source before anything becomes publicly visible.
The Travel Update workflow is not intended to collect traveller account information, payment information or sensitive personal information. Please do not submit sensitive personal information through Travel Update workflows.
Services that help operate CamperLocations
CamperLocations uses secure hosting, database, email delivery and AI service providers where required to operate the service. These providers process only the information needed to deliver their specific function — for example, storing a submission you sent us, delivering an email you asked for, or helping draft a Travel Update for human review.
We choose providers with appropriate security practices and only share the minimum information needed for each task.
