A public archive centre for visitors who want to understand Skye and Lochalsh through original records, maps and historic photographs. The collections span the seventeenth century to the present, with particular strength from the nineteenth century onward. Visitors can drop in during published weekday hours, although requesting documents in advance can make a research visit more useful. Admission and access to the collections are free, making this a practical indoor stop in Portree.
